Two-factor authentication - How to setup 2-factor authentication for social accounts ?

Hey guys , after reading my previous post , till now you must have known that why "2-factor authentication" is so important for privacy of our social accounts.

In this post, I am going to tell you that how to setup two-factor authentication (2FA) or two step verification or dual factor authentication for different social accounts.

There are total 3 social accounts in this post for which i explained 2-factor authentication (2FA) . If you want to know the step up of 2FA for other social accounts then you can tell me in the comment section.

Before going to the main topic let me briefly tell you that what is two-factor authentication ?

Two-factor authentication is a second level security i.e. it makes your account more secure . No one can use your account without your permission even if he/she has your username and password.

After turning on 2-factor authentication , an additional security layer adds in your login procedure.

Now start the main topic i.e.,

How to setup 2-factor authentication instagram account?

 

There are some steps involved in this process so read all the steps one by one till the end.

NOTE :- All the steps can be performed on both platforms either on app or browser . In this post all these steps are performed on the web browser (chrome) so if you face any problem/confusion on instagram app then try these steps on browser.

STEP 1 :- Open your instagram account and click on "settings" icon . Then click on "privacy and security" and then you will see "two-factor authentication" so click on "edit two-factor authentication setting" as shown in screenshot.

STEP 2 :- Now click on "use text messages" and then click on "turn on".

STEP 3 :- Now enter your number and then click on "next" as shown in screenshot (1st) . Then enter the "confirmation code" and click on "done" . After clicking on done,  you will get your backup codes (see in screenshot 3rd).

NOTE :- You can use these codes only once but you can also get new codes by clicking on "get new codes".

So guys , that's all for instagram settings of 2FA. I hope you have understand all these steps very well.

How to setup 2-factor authentication for facebook account ?

This process also consists of some steps so read all the steps one by one till the end.

NOTE :- All the steps can be performed on both platforms either on app or  browser . In this post all these steps are performed on the web browser (chrome) so if you face any problem/confusion on facebook app then try these steps on browser.

STEP 1 :- Login into your facebook account and then click on it(three lines) as shown in screenshot.

STEP 2 :- Scroll down your page and then click on "settings" and then click on "security and login".

STEP 3 :- Now you will see a option two-factor authentication so click on "use two-factor authentication"and then click on "use text messages(SMS)" as shown in screenshot.

NOTE :- You can also use authentication app.

STEP 4 :- Now you need to add your phone number after adding number click on "continue" and then you need to enter your password after then click on "continue'.

STEP 5 :- Now you have to enter a 6 digit code which you will get through text message (sms) and after this click on  "continue' . Now you can see in the screenshot(2nd) that 2FA is on , so click on "done".

Now the process of turning on two factor authentication is done . But an important step is still remaining i.e. adding a backup add.

This step helps in that case when you can not able to receive a security code via text message . So this step is must for everyone.

STEP 6 :- Now after turning on 2FA , you will see "add a backup method" and just below that there are some backup methods are given. Click on "recovery codes" and then click on "get codes" as shown in screenshot(2nd). After then you will get 10 recovery codes (see in screenshot 3rd).

NOTE :- You can use each code only one time so when all the recovery codes are over then click on "get codes"

Now the whole process of 2FA is complete , the only thing is left that how to use these codes during login.

So if you want to know this then see in the screenshot.

Whenever you will login into your account on new browser or app then everytime it will ask for a security code , then you will have to enter a "recovery code'.

But when you don't have these recovery codes then you need to click on "having trouble" as shown in screenshot 1st and then click on
"send me a text message with my login code" and then click on "continue" (see in screenshot 2nd below).

When you will get your login code via sms then enter it and then click on "submit code" (screeenshot 3rd).

After doing these steps you will be able to use your facebook account.

REMEMBER :- It will ask for security code only when if the browser or facebook app is new i.e. logging into your account 1st time on broswer or app , so make sure that you log out your facebook account from all the devices where you're logged in.

First of all login into your facebook account and go to the settings and then click on "security and login" (see screenshot 1st given below) . Then you will see  "where you're logged in" click on "see more" as shown in screenshot (2nd).
At last click on "log out of all sessions" (see screenshot 3rd).

After doing these steps , you will log out from all the devices.

So guys , that's all about the settings of facebook account . These steps makes your account more secure , so follow these steps very carefully.

How to setup 2-step verification for whatsapp account ?

You have to follow some steps for turning on 2 step verification for whatsapp account.

STEP 1 :- Open whatsapp account and click on "settings" and then click on "account" . After clicking on account , you will see "two-step verification" click on it as shown in screenshot 2nd . After then click on "enable".

STEP 2 :- Now you have to create a 6 digit pin and then click on "next" and after this you have to confirm your pin so enter the same pin again then click on "next" as shown in screenshot.

STEP 3 :- Now you need to add a email/gmail id . This helps when you will forget your pin.

NOTE :-  You can also skip this step but remember one thing that if you forget your pin then you will not be able to use your whatsapp account again. So think once before skipping this step or create a pin with that type of digits which you never forget.

I clicked on skip and then ok as shown in screenshot 2nd.

STEP 4 :- Click on "done" and successfully 2-step verification is done.

Now your whatsapp account become more secure.

What is two factor authentication or 2FA ?

Two-factor authentication is a  second level security to protect an account or system . In simple word we can say that it is just like a password in another form i.e. it adds an extra step to your login procedure.

Without 2 factor authentication , you need  only your username and password to login into your account. The password is your single factor authentication but with 2FA , an extra step adds to your login procedure.

This second step or second factor makes your account more secure . After turning on 2 FA , whenever you login into your account ,  everytime you need to enter a security code.

After turning on two factor authentication , no one can be able to login into your account without your permission even if he/she has your username and password.

How to setup two-factor authentication on gmail account ?

If you want to make your gmail/google account more secure then follow the steps which are given below:-

NOTE :-  All the steps can be performed on both platforms either on app or  browser . In this post all these steps are performed on the web browser (chrome) so if you face any problem/confusion on gmail app then try these steps on browser.

STEP 1 :- Open google in your android phone and click on "sign in " and enter your gmail id and password as shown in screenshot.

STEP 2 :- Click on "profile icon" and then click on "manage your google account".

STEP 3 :- Now click on "3 dots" and then click on "desktop site" as shown in screenshot.

STEP 4 :- Now click on "security" and you can see here that 2 step verification is off so click on  "2 step verification".

STEP 5 :- Now you will get this type of interface , click on "get started" and enter your password of gmail account and then click on "next".

STEP 6 :- Here it is written that "use your phone as your second sign in step" . You can change it by clicking on "choose another option" as shown in screenshot (1st).
As you can  see in the screenshot(2nd) that there are 2 more options . You can select it according to you.
For example :- I clicked on "text messages or phone calls" and then clicked on "try now"

STEP 7 :- Now you can see in the screenshot that "how do you want to get codes" , you can select it as you want.
For example :- I clicked on text messages and then click on "next" button.
After then google just sent a text message with verification code ,  you have to enter that code in this box and then click on "next" button  as shown in screenshot(2nd).

STEP 8 :-  You need to turn on 2 step verification by just simply clicking on "turn on" option.

So , these all are the steps for turning on 2FA . Now whenever you login into your account then everytime it will ask for a security code that you will receive via SMS. In case , you are not able to receive a text message then you can try a backup method.

STEP 9 :- Now you need to add a backup method. There are total 5 ways through which you can add backup method . You can select it according to you.
For example :- I clicked on 1st method i.e. backup codes and you can see in the screenshot(2nd) that there are total 10 backup codes.

NOTE:- You can use each code only one time . You can generate new codes by just simply clicking on "get new codes".

REMEMBER :- Keep them in a safe folder or you can note these codes in your diary.

Now it's a time to show you that how two-factor authentication works ?

See in the screenshot that during login , it asks for a security code . You can see in the screenshot(1st)  in yellow box that , a 6 digit code was just sent to my number. But in case , if you are unable to receive a verification code then you can click on "try another way".

After clicking on "try another way" , see in 2nd screenshot ,  you can be able to see all the ways to sign in into your account. Click on any one as you want.
For example:- I clicked on "backup codes" and enter a backup code then click on "next".
Hence after clicking on it , your will successfully logged in into your account.

Delete instagram account : How to delete instagram account permanently ?

As we all know that there are so many users of Instagram and each & every day the number of users increasing on Instagram but there are so many users who don't know about the deletion process of an Instagram account, So guys, In this post I am going to tell you that how to delete an Instagram account permanently ?

As we all know about Instagram application. It is also a most popular social network platform where people shares their photos , videos and much more . At present time, billions of users are using Instagram . If you are reading this post then you are also one of them.

How to download data of  an Instagram account?

NOTE :- All these steps are performed on instagram webpage(website) , so if you will face any problem in performing these steps on Instagram application then try these steps on instagram website.

If you want to download the data of your Instagram account then you have to follow some simple steps that are given below so follow all these steps very carefully:-

STEP 1 :- Open your Instagram account and click on profile section and then click on "settings" icon as shown in screenshot.

STEP 2 :- Click on "privacy and security" as shown in screenshot.

STEP 3 :- Now scroll down your page and click on "request download"  as shown in screenshot.

STEP 4 :- You have to enter your gmail id and password of your instagram account then click on "request download" as shown in screenshot.

STEP 5 :- Now you can see in the screenshot "download requested". The data will send on gmail account after some time. This can be take upto 48 hours.

After performing all these steps, you will receive your all the data of your Instagram account by mail. You can see in the screenshot that this type of mail you will received after doing this process. You will be able to download your data by simply clicking on "download" button.

STEP 2 :- Now you need to scroll down your page and then click on "help centre" as shown in screenshot.

STEP 3 :- Click on "managing your account" as shown in screenshot.

STEP 4 :-  After clicking on it you will see a option of  "delete your account" so click on it as shown in screenshot.

STEP 5 :- Now you have to click on "how do I delete my Instagram account ?"

STEP 6 :- After clicking on it, scroll down your page and then click on "delete your account" as shown in screenshot.

STEP 7 :- Now you have to select a reason of deleting your account and then enter your password as shown in screenshot.

STEP 8 :- Now click on "permanently delete my account" as shown in screenshot.

STEP 9 :- After clicking on it , your account will be deleted permanently as shown in screenshot.

Disable instagram account : How to temporarily disable instagram account ?

Hey whatsup guys , as all we know about instagram application . It is also a most popular social network platform . Billions of users are using it in the present time . If you are reading this post then you are also one of them.

Do you need some break from instagram? If yes then read this post continue till the end . There are two options through which you can take some break from instagram.

Either you can temporarily disable your instagram account or you can delete your account permanently .

These two options are different from each other.

STEP 4 :- From here you can select any reason according to you as shown in screenshot.

STEP 6 :- Now click on "temporarily disable account" as shown in screenshot.

After clicking on it your instagram account will be disabled temporarily . You can reactivate it by logging in into your account again.

When you will try to login into your account immediately after disabling your account then it will show this type of message as shown in screenshot given below.

NOTE :- It is important for you to remember the password and username to logging in into your account again. If you fail to remember your password then you can change it simply by clicking on  "forgot your password".

What is the use of two factor authentication?

Suppose anyhow if a person gets your username and password then he/she can be able to login into your account but after setting of "two factor authentication security" no one can be able to log in into your account even he/she has your password and username.

After setting this security , whenever you will sign in into your account then it will ask for a security code which you will get through a sms on your registered mobile number.

You will also get some backup codes after completing the process of two factor authentication security which will used during login if you will not able to receive a security code by text then you can use those backup codes.

STEP 1 :- Open your instagram account and click on profile section then click on "settings" icon.

STEP 2 :- Click on "privacy and security" option.

STEP 3 :- Now scroll down your page and click on "edit two-factor authentication setting" as shown in screenshot.

STEP 4 :- Click on "use text message" and then click on "turn on" option as shown in screenshot.

NOTE :- You can also select authentication app.

STEP 5 :- Now click on "next" and enter the confirmination code and then click on "done" as shown in screenshot.

STEP 6 :- Here you can see in the screenshot that my all the backup codes are showing here.

With the help of these backup codes you can get back into your account . If you are not able to receive security code by text then you can enter there any one of your backup codes.

See in the screenshot that how these codes will work . You have to enter a security code but  if you did not get any code by text then use your backup codes.

NOTE :- These backup codes changes with time. So check these codes regularly after some/few days . Otherwise you have also an another choice i.e. receive security code by text.
